Mind Over Medicine!

The body's natural self-repair mechanisms only fully function when the nervous system is in relaxation response.

We all know stress is bad for us, but did you realize that every stressful thought, feeling or belief — we average more than 50 such responses every day — disables the body's ability to repair itself? We have an unhealthy relationship with the very notion of stress. We often think it means that we're too busy (and therefore that we're worthy and important). But it's much more than demands on your time and energy. Sure, stress can be running around like a headless chicken, trying to check off your to-do list. But as far as your nervous system is concerned, stress is also social isolation and loneliness. It's selling your soul for a paycheck. Stress is a pessimistic worldview. It's toxic relationships. Stress is money worries. It's knowing you have a song within you that has yet to be sung, or feeling out of touch with your life's purpose. Stress is negative beliefs about your health. It's feeling like nobody really gets the real you. It's pretending to be something that you're not. And stress is feeling disconnected from your higher power.
Your brain can't tell the difference between "I'm getting chased by a tiger!" and "Nobody loves me" or "I'm never going to get well." As far as the nervous system is concerned, they all signal imminent danger, and that is what stress really is, as far as your body is concerned.
Lonely People:- have double the rate of heart disease than those who are part of a supportive community, and that researchers have found that loneliness may be a greater risk factor for your health than smoking or not exercising? Did you know that optimists have a 77 percent lower risk of heart disease than pessimists, or that happy people live seven to 10 years longer than unhappy people?

THE YOGA DIET HEALING!

Practiced worldwide, yoga is one of the most popular exercise modalities. Though yoga is effective in training your body, giving you improved flexibility, tone and strength, yoga is also about training your mind. The word yoga actually means "to connect," and, in addition to the physical fitness, it offers many mind-related benefits.

Yoga is not just exercise; rather, it embodies the food you eat, your interaction with others, and the way you spend your day.

THE YOGA DIET:-
Yogis stress that consumption of "good" food, though not the goal of yoga, is an important step in the yoga ladder. Food is also considered in the three modes.
Mode of goodness:
Food in the mode of goodness increases longevity, purifies one's existence, and gives strength, health and satisfaction. The ideal diet includes only milk products, grains, sugar, fruit and vegetables.
Mode of passion:
This mode contains foods that are too bitter, sour, salty, pungent, rich, dry or hot. Like the effects of passion and desire, this type of food causes pain, distress or disease to the body.
Mode of ignorance:
This mode includes foods that taste stale, putrid, decomposed or unclean, or lack taste entirely. This includes leftovers, meat, fish, eggs and liquor. Foods of ignorance should be avoided to reach the perfection of yoga.
Mode of purified goodness:
This mode, one above the mode of goodness, is considered unattainable to the average yoga practitioner. The food in purified goodness is only the remnants of a saintly person or a spiritual master -- a virtual impossibility for most.

Using the mind to heal the body

What does being healed mean to you? How much does the mind truly affect your ability to recover after an illness, undergoing surgery or suffering a loss? The mind-body connection has been studied and documented for many years. Research shows that a correlation between the desire to heal and actual healing exists -- and can be enhanced if the mind is engaged in a positive way toward that goal. Here’s more on how you can use your mind to heal your body.

Fighting Terror with Forgiveness!

Seven steps that can be adapted to your own use, and they go like this:

1. Select a bitter sorrow, a serious grievance against someone, or a punishing charge against yourself, and review it in complete detail.
2. Hold in your mind the image of whatever is to be forgiven - yourself, another person, a past event - and say, “I release you from the grip of my sadness, disapproval, or condemnation.” Concentrate quietly on this intention.
3. Imagine for a while what your life will be like without the sorrow or grievance that has been haunting you.
4. Make amends with someone you’ve hurt or someone who has hurt you; tell a friend about your self-forgiveness; or otherwise bring your inner work to your relationships.
5. Ask for God’s help to overcome fear or resistance at any step. If you do not believe in God, ask for help from nature, humanity, and the mysteries of your own mind. These are the channels through which aid is sent - and aid is always sent.
6. Have patience. Forgiveness induces healing which follows its own order and timing. Whether you think you have accomplished anything thus far is less important than the fact that you have attempted a radical act that will call forth change likely to exceed your expectations. Go about your daily business, but stay alert to unexpected shifts in your thinking, feeling, and relationships.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 as often as necessary, for life.
That’s it! You can fight terror today by forgiving the next little thing that bugs you - and then forgive whatever comes next. Rest assured that on your way to greater peace, sharper intelligence, and a true fearlessness, you’ll always find plenty of opportunities to forgive.

Grow Your Spirit!

 Confront Your Inner Demons
Everyone makes mistakes or regrets past decisions. Exposing our frailties and recognizing that we are not perfect frees us from feeling stupid or "less than." Bring light to those things that you are not proud of and realize that through these experiences you have learned great lessons, and have likely become a better person for them. Keeping negative actions hidden can overshadow our spirits with shame or depression. We all deserve to live with joy regardless of our imperfections.

Accept Change - Go with the Flow
There is a fine line between caution and fear. We are meant to travel along a spiritual pathway. We are not meant to remain stunted in one place for very long. Yes, change can be scary. But, change is a path of learning, so why not follow it? When we resist change we can actually create chaos. Do you want to undertake a lesson down a path which you've chosen, or have lessons thrown at you down a path that was forced upon you?

Accept Delays
There are times when we need to be still.Impatience or frustration will not help any situation. Desired changes sometime take time to unfold. You may feel like you are ready to jump into a new arena... but wait. The situation or person that you are wanting to meet may not be ready for you just yet. It's okay to sit at the bus stop for a few more minutes, the bus will arrive eventually. What's the hurry?

Love and Honor Yourself
Are you taking good care of yourself? Your physical body is the vehicle that has been loaned to you to live out your life in and to assist growing your spirit with. Pamper your body, tend to your illnesses, exercise and give it the proper nutrients.

 Dealing with Death and Illness
Physical life is a gift that comes with a variety of experiences. Suffering and illness are bundled in with that package of experiences. Although our bodies have expiration dates, our spirits don't expire. Choosing to look at illness and death in positive ways rather than negatively will help to give your life here on the planet deeper meaning.
