Mind Over Medicine!

The body's natural self-repair mechanisms only fully function when the nervous system is in relaxation response.

We all know stress is bad for us, but did you realize that every stressful thought, feeling or belief — we average more than 50 such responses every day — disables the body's ability to repair itself? We have an unhealthy relationship with the very notion of stress. We often think it means that we're too busy (and therefore that we're worthy and important). But it's much more than demands on your time and energy. Sure, stress can be running around like a headless chicken, trying to check off your to-do list. But as far as your nervous system is concerned, stress is also social isolation and loneliness. It's selling your soul for a paycheck. Stress is a pessimistic worldview. It's toxic relationships. Stress is money worries. It's knowing you have a song within you that has yet to be sung, or feeling out of touch with your life's purpose. Stress is negative beliefs about your health. It's feeling like nobody really gets the real you. It's pretending to be something that you're not. And stress is feeling disconnected from your higher power.
Your brain can't tell the difference between "I'm getting chased by a tiger!" and "Nobody loves me" or "I'm never going to get well." As far as the nervous system is concerned, they all signal imminent danger, and that is what stress really is, as far as your body is concerned.
Lonely People:- have double the rate of heart disease than those who are part of a supportive community, and that researchers have found that loneliness may be a greater risk factor for your health than smoking or not exercising? Did you know that optimists have a 77 percent lower risk of heart disease than pessimists, or that happy people live seven to 10 years longer than unhappy people?

THE YOGA DIET HEALING!

Practiced worldwide, yoga is one of the most popular exercise modalities. Though yoga is effective in training your body, giving you improved flexibility, tone and strength, yoga is also about training your mind. The word yoga actually means "to connect," and, in addition to the physical fitness, it offers many mind-related benefits.

Yoga is not just exercise; rather, it embodies the food you eat, your interaction with others, and the way you spend your day.

THE YOGA DIET:-
Yogis stress that consumption of "good" food, though not the goal of yoga, is an important step in the yoga ladder. Food is also considered in the three modes.
Mode of goodness:
Food in the mode of goodness increases longevity, purifies one's existence, and gives strength, health and satisfaction. The ideal diet includes only milk products, grains, sugar, fruit and vegetables.
Mode of passion:
This mode contains foods that are too bitter, sour, salty, pungent, rich, dry or hot. Like the effects of passion and desire, this type of food causes pain, distress or disease to the body.
Mode of ignorance:
This mode includes foods that taste stale, putrid, decomposed or unclean, or lack taste entirely. This includes leftovers, meat, fish, eggs and liquor. Foods of ignorance should be avoided to reach the perfection of yoga.
Mode of purified goodness:
This mode, one above the mode of goodness, is considered unattainable to the average yoga practitioner. The food in purified goodness is only the remnants of a saintly person or a spiritual master -- a virtual impossibility for most.

Using the mind to heal the body

What does being healed mean to you? How much does the mind truly affect your ability to recover after an illness, undergoing surgery or suffering a loss? The mind-body connection has been studied and documented for many years. Research shows that a correlation between the desire to heal and actual healing exists -- and can be enhanced if the mind is engaged in a positive way toward that goal. Here’s more on how you can use your mind to heal your body.
Laughter is the best medicine:-
We've all heard the old adage that laughter is the best medicine -- and it turns this often-heard piece of advice has scientific evidence to back it up.
Health benefits of laughter therapy:-

Humor can increase feel-good hormones and immunity:-

"Physically, laughter (i.e., experiencing and expressing mirth) can increase endorphins, the 'feel-good' hormones that can improve mood and decrease physical pain,"
Love for longevity:-

Fighting Terror with Forgiveness!

Seven steps that can be adapted to your own use, and they go like this:

1. Select a bitter sorrow, a serious grievance against someone, or a punishing charge against yourself, and review it in complete detail.
2. Hold in your mind the image of whatever is to be forgiven - yourself, another person, a past event - and say, “I release you from the grip of my sadness, disapproval, or condemnation.” Concentrate quietly on this intention.
3. Imagine for a while what your life will be like without the sorrow or grievance that has been haunting you.
4. Make amends with someone you’ve hurt or someone who has hurt you; tell a friend about your self-forgiveness; or otherwise bring your inner work to your relationships.
5. Ask for God’s help to overcome fear or resistance at any step. If you do not believe in God, ask for help from nature, humanity, and the mysteries of your own mind. These are the channels through which aid is sent - and aid is always sent.
6. Have patience. Forgiveness induces healing which follows its own order and timing. Whether you think you have accomplished anything thus far is less important than the fact that you have attempted a radical act that will call forth change likely to exceed your expectations. Go about your daily business, but stay alert to unexpected shifts in your thinking, feeling, and relationships.
7. Repeat steps 1 through 6 as often as necessary, for life.
That’s it! You can fight terror today by forgiving the next little thing that bugs you - and then forgive whatever comes next. Rest assured that on your way to greater peace, sharper intelligence, and a true fearlessness, you’ll always find plenty of opportunities to forgive.

3.Learn New Skills:-
Try learning new skills such as meditation, deep breathing, yoga, biofeedback, and progressive muscle relaxation or take a hot bath, make love, get a massage, watch a sunset, or walk in the woods or on the beach.

Grow Your Spirit!

 Confront Your Inner Demons
Everyone makes mistakes or regrets past decisions. Exposing our frailties and recognizing that we are not perfect frees us from feeling stupid or "less than." Bring light to those things that you are not proud of and realize that through these experiences you have learned great lessons, and have likely become a better person for them. Keeping negative actions hidden can overshadow our spirits with shame or depression. We all deserve to live with joy regardless of our imperfections.

Accept Change - Go with the Flow
There is a fine line between caution and fear. We are meant to travel along a spiritual pathway. We are not meant to remain stunted in one place for very long. Yes, change can be scary. But, change is a path of learning, so why not follow it? When we resist change we can actually create chaos. Do you want to undertake a lesson down a path which you've chosen, or have lessons thrown at you down a path that was forced upon you?

Accept Delays
There are times when we need to be still.Impatience or frustration will not help any situation. Desired changes sometime take time to unfold. You may feel like you are ready to jump into a new arena... but wait. The situation or person that you are wanting to meet may not be ready for you just yet. It's okay to sit at the bus stop for a few more minutes, the bus will arrive eventually. What's the hurry?

Love and Honor Yourself
Are you taking good care of yourself? Your physical body is the vehicle that has been loaned to you to live out your life in and to assist growing your spirit with. Pamper your body, tend to your illnesses, exercise and give it the proper nutrients.

 Dealing with Death and Illness
Physical life is a gift that comes with a variety of experiences. Suffering and illness are bundled in with that package of experiences. Although our bodies have expiration dates, our spirits don't expire. Choosing to look at illness and death in positive ways rather than negatively will help to give your life here on the planet deeper meaning.

Grow Your Spirit!

1. Embrace Your Talents
Recognize and further develop your intelligence and special gifts. Our talents are signifier that lead us toward our unique paths. Follow your passion and you will soon discover where you fit in this world. When we squelch innate yearnings we lose our way.
2. Tie Up Loose Ends
Unresolved issues eat away at us emotionally and mentally. Tackle troubling things that need dealt with and put them to rest. In the meanwhile, learn not to allow future problems to be ignored. Our wounds fester when they are not attended to in a timely manner. Realize that buried problems always surface eventually. Dealing with difficulties as they arise rather than hiding from them is the best route.
3. Be Responsible in Your Relationships
Turn away from the "blame game" when it comes to addressing problems in your relationships. Be honest about the things that you have said or done that harmed the relationship. Own up to your own failures. Focus on changing your defeating patterns rather than expecting changes from the other person.
4. Love Sometimes Means Saying Goodbye
Not all relationships are meant to last forever. We sometimes out grow our partners, or our partner goes off in a direction which makes us struggle to stay in step with. Sometimes, the most responsible thing you can do is to offer love and compassion to the person as you release the relationship.
5. Let Go of Useless Attachments

If a thing no longer serves a purpose in your life, it is clutter. Clutter can be a physical thing or a belief that blocks your path. Holding on to things that don't feed you will instead eat up your energy. Free your space and expand your energy by getting rid of unwanted gifts, broken or useless items, self-defeating mental images, etc.

Mind Power at Work!

Whether you are aware of it or not, the power of your mind is ALWAYS at work … but not always in your awareness.
The subconscious mind is an entirely different "creature" from the conscious mind. This is often a difficult idea to truly grasp, and yet it is precisely the reason that people unknowingly sabotage themselves, are over-stressed, or struggle to reach their goals. Often the root cause of persistent problems in health, relationships and success is a split between your conscious wants and your subconscious mind “programming.”
The power of the mind, particularly the subconscious, is always present – holding you back or propelling you forward. It is helping you or hurting you, so you may as well take hold of it.
Mind Power at Work
In your relationships, your health, your financial success and your  habits ,the power of mind influences the results you get. The good news is that the power of the mind (on all levels) can be accessed and even reprogrammed to help you reach your goals.
But it won’t happen on its own. You must recognize where your subconscious mind enjoys its "comfort zones" and how you can start to nudge it beyond that fixed level.
As an example, if you were the person above who wanted a stronger sense of comfort and relaxation in your life, it would be helpful for you to identify the limiting unconscious beliefs holding you back. Then go to work on reprogramming your subconscious mind.

The Healing Power of Play!

Loosening the grip of negative emotions through play is one of my favorite ways to shift out of misery into happiness. It’s not only fun but it’s healing as well.

It’s true -- love, joy, and happiness can heal what ails us, and so can facing
revealing and releasing whatever dark feelings are repressing our aliveness (and our immune system). There are many ways to do that, but for me the most fun way is to play with it, welcome it, make it bigger and more outrageous! When you crack yourself up, you crack yourself open and are more available for deep learning and healing. And, if you can laugh at something, you can be free of it.

What shadows of yours are you most ashamed to reveal? Invite them to the party, give them a party hat, exaggerate them, let it rip, and celebrate the healing power of play!

Enjoy Your Life More easy Steps!

Here are my top five tips for rediscovering simplicity in your life:
1.Treat yourself to some silence.
Silence can mean different things to different people. The early hours of the morning, the serenity of the countryside, the few moments after you turn off the motor of your car, or even the simplicity of a clean and tidy room. Do your best to seek out this kind of silence, at least once a day. You deserve it.
2.Do one thing at a time.
Contrary to popular belief, only about 2.5 percent of people have the ability to effectively focus on more than one task at a time. So for the other 97.5 percent of us,multi-tasking makes things harder, not easier. Give yourself a break -- one complete thing is plenty to be focusing on at a time.
3.Quit trying so hard.
That might sound like an astonishing suggestion, but one of the things that we learn from meditation is that exerting effort, particularly to try to force the mind to do anything, is often counterproductive. Try to take a relaxed approach. Think of an athlete or a performer, whom you love -- do they make it look easy? It's that level of relaxed effort that you're looking for.
4.Remember the blue sky.
When you get in a plane and rise above the clouds, you see that incredible bright panorama of blue sky. The mind is no different; thoughts are like clouds, and although they may build up and even look stormy, the blue sky is there all along. Just remembering this is enough to help you get a little more clarity.
5.Learn how to meditate.
Regular readers maybe saw this one coming, but I would recommend starting a meditation practice by downloading the Headspace app and starting our beginner's course, Take10. It's free to download and only takes 10 minutes a day. And best of all, unlike the monastery, you get to keep your phone.

Accepting Change

When you think about it, your life is like a tapestry with many colors, directions, good and not so good living.

Finding your way may be difficult at times because you want so many things in life. You may want to fill your time with meaningful living but you  seem trapped in what you have to do to survive.Nature gives us many lessons on staying power. Standing strong like a tree you can find your way through life’s struggles. It may seem like a long time waiting for things to change for you.You may think that they are just trees, but they are living nature, swaying and moving with time.If you find that you are impatient about where your life is going, try some exercises that help with staying power.

Meditation is a good place to start. Begin with a deep, cleansing breath, and then silence, concentrating only on your breathing. When a thought comes to mind, bring yourself back to the breath.

Meditate every day for at least 15 minutes and you will find out that you are calmer, balanced and grounded to the Earth just like a tree.

Healing Way!

Finding ways to let go of some of the things in life that stress you out is the first step toward healing yourself.
how to use your mind, body and soul to free yourself from pain and illnesse

                                           ''stress is harmful''

You would think that by now we would take that advice and find ways to decrease the stress in our lives.
My favorite way of decreasing my stress is using my creativity.
It seems that when I increase the time I spend creating something, I am at peace with myself. Creating makes the time pass, and at the end, I usually have something beautiful. Not everything that I create turns to gold!!
Sometimes I struggle, but when I do, I usually put things to the side for a moment.
And say to myself, ” This is supposed to be my peaceful time.” You may have to remind yourself of creating peaceful times and how to stay in them.

Healing and Wellness!

Do you have something that really helps you to focus on healing and wellness?

If not you should begin to find some healing ways.

Using your imagination, think of something that really makes you feel well. Maybe it is just looking at some old pictures of family and friends. Or your healing ways could be practicing the piano or singing a song in your car as you drive along.

Each person has their own specific way to heal themselves. And to make a full transformation to wellness and health, you may have to develop yourself by finding personal meaning and love in the things that you do in life.

"We know we can’t always avoid stressors in our life, but one thing we can do to prepare for that is to have healthy food choices in our refrigerators and cabinets so that when those stressors come up, we can reach for something healthy rather than going to a very convenient but high-fat choice,
Junk food is obviously bad and can lead to weight gain.
Biological Psychiatry shows that stress experienced prior to eating a high-fat meal lowers your rate of metabolism, making it even harder to keep the pounds off.

WHEN YOU'RE IN CONFLICT with someone and you've both dug yourselves into intractable positions, it's useful to remember that the person you're facing is a living, breathing, at times fearful and insecure human being not a devouring monster.Don't demonise. It makes you a victim and it encourages fear.
